What is Public Housing?
Government owned housing for low-income families, seniors and disabled people that is managed by a local housing authority and funded federally through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in which residents pay up to 30% of their monthly adjusted income in rent.
What is Affordable Housing?
Privately-owned housing for low-income families and individuals in which government subsidies, often in the form of tax-credit or vouchers, are used to offset rental costs so that housing units can be offered below market-rate to those who are income qualified.
